Cicadas

This is a recording of my mom telling the story of cicadas. When she was a little girl, she would go around outside finding the shed skin of cicadas and stick them on her shirt. Once she would get a good number of them on her shirt, she would go inside and say, "Look Mamma!", and she would just look and smile. My mom has showed us the cicadas skins and how they stick, and my sister and I love to do it as well. This is a story that will be passed on to my children so they can have the simple child pleasure of a bug on their shirt!

Don't Play in the Fire

This story is one of my favorites. It's about my Uncle, David, and when he was a little kid. One day while at my great grandparents cabin on the lake, my mom and uncle were visiting and playing around the fire. My great grandmother warned my uncle to not play in the fire, but my uncle being himself had to disobey. When my great grandmother came back outside, she saw my uncle dancing around holding his hand yelling, "A wasp stung me! A wasp stung me!". Now when ever we know somebody is trying to lie, we say, "Now don't you be playing in the fire!", because we know he was ling and playing in that fire.
